After an awesome day driving through Yorkshire, we're spending 2 nights in Lincolnshire, and today was a day of visiting all my old haunts from my 3 years here.
Some changes, some things stayed the same, and all looking very splendid in spring colours (more splendid than my memories - not sure if that's me that's changed or this place has been spruced up??).
Beautiful drive up to Tan Hill in Yorkshire, amazing (thanks Irene!).
Lunch in York, amazing but I had to leave most of the cider behind, so I could drive :(
Little Cawthorpe ford to the Splash Inn. Used to walk to here and through the ford!
My old house, no longer part of an RAF base, so new fences and some renovations.
The street with all the hedges and fences feels so closed off, no space for kids to run and play together.
The Manby Post Office shop. Bought a Mars Bar for old times sake... extra Tasty.
My old high school play grounds. Sliding across one court down the ramp and across the other was the key challenge on snowy days!
The deputy principal's office is on the left. Spent more than my fair share of time there!
The "Duck Pond" ... once the only pool in town, and site of our school swimming classes... zero degrees on a good day! First time I've ever been this close without hyperthermia!
The back of the Duck pond, little evidence of the torture remains!
The countryside near our accom, so much space!!
Great adventure
