This is the gang on the ferry from Dover to Calais. Yesterday was transition day. We went from cold, rainy England via a stopover in Brighton for the night, to a sunny, but still cold, magical France.
But first, the big news.
After seeing Roses' and Lissy's baggage, we didn't know how on earth we were going to fit the bike in we were picking up from Mike's niece's place in Brighton. This bike is an important part of the cycling phase of our big adventure - and Mike really needed that bike. He'd been plotting and scheming all week in the middle of the night to find a way to make it work. And after a wonderful dinner at Kate and Andy's house (where they have even more condiments than we do in their fridge)...
and picking up the bike from them, Mike woke up early on Saturday morning before we headed to the ferry to pack the car.
I am happy to report that Tetris Mike, the best car-packer I've ever seen, had the job done in 6 minutes...
Yes, that's Roses' head and arm up the top there!
And the bike is sitting next to Roses and the London shopping. Nice job Tetris Mike.
All of this action took place after we checked out of our fab accommodation in Ranby, a tiny village near Louth, and spent the day driving down to Brighton for the Dover ferry the next day. On the drive we stopped at a bizarre shopping place that had gorgeous spring gardens out the back, and then a spot of lunch at Wagamama's in Cambridge.
For the gourmands amongst you, I have to include a pic of the local Lincolnshire delicacy of Plum Bread - OMG SOOOOOO GOOD! It was like the best fruit test I've ever eaten.

Omg love it all. Tetris mike strikes again! Love the accommodation and the plumber bread yahoo! Amazballs. Delish!
