HELL: Hills - yesterday - lots and lots and lots of them.
HEAVEN: finally finding a place open for late lunch yesterday - the only option a yum charcuterie board - made us pretty happy
HEAVEN & HELL: After our late lunch we ran into a German family - 2 kids, aged 2 and 4, on a 3 month cycle and camping trip to Spain! Unbelievable.
HEAVEN: Then the sun came out and we found a FLAT cycling path for a few km, and the scenery was magnificent.
HELL (sort of, not really, I'm just being dramatic): We finally made our hotel for the night - smallest bathroom in the entire universe (gave us hours of laughter), dodgy proprietor, and tightwad breakfast.
HELL & HEAVEN: We woke up to rain this morning, waited it out and hit the road about 11.30 when it had eased. We'd decided to cut back the kms due to the amount of climbing, and we wanted to arrive happy at our destination. So, we started climbing, and soon got into a routine of walking up and flying down. It was AWESOME! And the scenery again...breathtaking.
HELL (again, not really, just for drama): We got to our lunch destination, a cute little French restaurant en route - so excited. No tables available. Bugger. We walked up the next hill, and took out all the food we had and had a snack picnic instead.
HELL (you know the drill, not really): We went another 7km to the nearest food, a bakery. Closed. We had some Peanut M&Ms left, so let rip.
HEAVEN: Due to the limit of 20km, and no lunch stop, we rolled into our GORGEOUS chateau accommodation around 2.30pm. YAY!! AND IT'S AAAAAMMMAAAZZING!!!
They heard about our lunch issue so prepared a light late lunch for us. UNBELIEVABLE. We've been for a swim in their indoor pool, had long hot great showers, been for a walk, and raided their lolly jars.
Can't wait for dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow!!!
ONLY 70km TO GO!
We'll be rolling in on Sunday (if the weather holds). Wooohoo!!
